What we handle

Four categories after a storm

Wind damage

Lifted or missing shingles and tiles, blown-off ridge caps, bent flashing, damaged fascia and drip edge.

Impact damage

Tree limbs, debris and hail hits. Underlayment exposure and cracked tiles are the most common leak sources.

Water infiltration

Ceiling stains, wet drywall, mold spotting. What’s visible inside is usually a small fraction of what’s wet in the attic.

Structural exposure

Rotted decking, compromised trusses, open envelope after severe events. We stabilise before we quote.

How we work with your insurance

We’re licensed roofing contractors, not public adjusters. That means we document the damage properly and complete the work to code — we don’t negotiate your claim on your behalf.

1. Free inspection

Full roof walk-through and drone survey where conditions allow. Photographs of every affected area.

2. Written report

Findings by roof section, photographic evidence, and an estimate you can submit to your carrier.

3. Stabilise if needed

Emergency tarp-and-stabilise to prevent further interior damage while the claim moves.

4. Permanent repair

Once the claim is approved (or you decide to proceed privately), we complete the work to current Florida Building Code with permits pulled by us.

Documentation for your file

Permit records, invoice, inspection sign-off and warranty paperwork — everything your insurer will want for their file.

The line we won’t cross

We won’t inflate an estimate, we won’t claim damage that isn’t there, and we won’t negotiate your policy. Anyone who offers to is operating outside their licence.

Storm damage questions

Frequently asked

What counts as storm damage on my roof?

Lifted or missing shingles, cracked or slipped tiles, exposed underlayment, bent flashing, dented roof vents, granule loss in gutters, and interior water stains that appeared after a storm. Wind, wind-driven rain, hail and tree impact are all covered situations under most Florida policies.

Do I call the insurance company or a roofer first?

Call a licensed roofing contractor first. Get a written inspection with photographs and an estimate — that's what your carrier will ask for. If the damage is significant, we submit a first-notice report you can attach to your claim. We're roofers, not public adjusters, so we don't negotiate the claim on your behalf.

How fast can Safetech respond after a storm?

Same day or within 24 hours during hurricane season, depending on volume. We prioritise active leaks and buildings with structural exposure. Non-urgent inspections after a storm are usually scheduled within 3–5 business days.

What's a tarp-and-stabilise?

A temporary weather-out cover — reinforced polyethylene tarp fastened over the affected area — that prevents further interior damage while the claim is processed and the permanent repair is scheduled. It's a stabilising measure, not a repair.

Will my insurance cover storm damage repair?

Sudden damage from a covered storm event is usually covered, minus your deductible (which may be a hurricane deductible, separate from your standard one). Gradual wear, deferred maintenance and pre-existing damage are typically excluded. Our written inspection report gives your carrier the evidence they need.

What's the 25% rule and how does it apply here?

Florida code limits how much of a roof can be repaired within a 12-month period before the entire roof has to be brought up to current code — 25 percent. If storm damage crosses that threshold, a full replacement becomes the code-compliant path, which changes the claim conversation. We flag this on the first inspection.

Damage from the last storm?

Free inspection, photographs, written report. If water is coming in now, use the emergency page or call directly.
